The purpose of a beadlock ring is to securely hold the bead of the tire when lowering pressure. In extreme off-roading situations, drivers will often reduce air pressure to increase the tire contact patch. With a beadlock wheel, you can maintain the seating of the tire with the wheel at these lower pressures. The wheel is designed to be compatible with a GM Performance Functional Beadlock Ring (sold separately). The wheel comes standard with a decorative trim ring. The decorative trim ring can be replaced with a GM Performance Functional Beadlock Ring (sold separately). The functional ring is the only ring that can maintain the bead at varying pressures when used with an OEM tire. The decorative ring can not perform under the same functions. The GM Performance Functional Beadlock Ring is designed for off-road use only.
