Good Maintenance Practices:
- WARNING: If a floor mat is the wrong size or is not properly installed, it can interfere with the pedals. Interference with the pedals can cause unintended acceleration and/or increased stopping distance which can cause a crash and injury. Make sure the floor mat does not interfere with the pedals.
- Neglecting to do so can cause the floor mats to fade or sustain irreparable damage.
- When cleaning your vehicle’s floor mats, always use the proper cleaning products for the specific material. Also, pretest the cleaning products to ensure they will not alter the color or texture of the mat.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Outside elements, such as water, road salt, sand, mud, and dirt can harm your vehicle’s flooring. Signs that your vehicle’s flooring has been affected by such elements, or wear from everyday use, include:
- Salt stains
- Discoloration due to sand, mud, or dirt on the carpet’s fiber
- Visible signs of wear, such as thinning spots around high traffic areas like the floor pedals or passenger compartments
